The school was founded in 1835. Formally, it was a women's teaching college. And then throughout the years is changed to what we know now as University of West Alabama.
I can say education has been an action because in my classes were hands-on. We're making science experiments. We're learning how things work. We're putting what you will learn in a textbook into actual actions. In my classroom, I can answer we don't sit down.
So at the University of West Alabama, we have a long list of majors and minors that appeal to many different interests of incoming students. We have anything from education, nursing, athletic training, and those are just some of our most popular majors.
This school has a very low ratio of teachers to students, and I feel like it plays a part because I actually have the connection that I would like my teachers.
You can walk up to them before or after class, and you can just tell them, hey, I'm struggling and they will sit down with you. And they will make sure that you're not struggling anymore, because they're here to help you learn, and you're here to learn.
As soon as I know what they want to pursue when they come here, UWA can help them find their passion by doing Interdisciplinary Studies. Interdisciplinary Studies gives them multiple opportunities to find what they like and what they're passionate about in order to help them find the major that they would like to pursue.
I love the University of West Alabama because even coming in as a freshman, they give you ample opportunity to get involved on campus and make this place your home. And I've always had professors and advisors who have made me feel like a priority as a student, and helped me to excel in any way that I can.
