We've got so many different athletic teams. We've got football, baseball, softball, volleyball track, cross country, tennis--
The most unique sport that we offer here at the University of West Alabama is rodeo. We live in a very rural area here. So it just brings another part to West Alabama's culture. We're the only college in Alabama that offers rodeo.
There are games to go to for every season. In the fall, you can watch football, volleyball. For the winter, you can go watch men and women's basketball. For the spring, you can watch baseball or softball. There's always something going on.
So when I got here as a freshman, I loved going to football games and I've gone every year.
The best part about going to games is really the fans aspect, and how rowdy and loud and excited they get. I think that's important to the culture. It really gets people motivated to go and excited to go to the different games.
We have so many international students at this school. We've got soccer players, as well as tennis from all over the world.
The local community loves to come out to the different sports games. I think it really sets the tone for the school to make it really a home type of feeling.
We got a lot of notable alumni athletes from here. So Tanner Rainey actually pitched at the nationals as well as Malcom Butler, and Tyreek Hill. And I actually watched one of them practice here.
I think the notable alumni really have influenced me on that it doesn't matter where you come from. If you want to be great, you can be great.
My favorite part about being on the rodeo team here is being able to hang out with my teammates, and there's no better feeling than backing in the box wearing my red vest that says University of West Alabama on the back.
